Leasing of business premises
This page explains how citizens and traders obtain a stall or shop in Kariakoo Main Market.
-
1. Confirm eligibility
Applicants need a valid Tanzanian ID, a business type permitted in the market, and no overdue KMC stall fees.
-
2. Gather documents
- Market-space application form (Publications → Forms, or the Commercial office)
- Copy of national ID
- Business licence or TIN where the trade category requires it
- Two passport photographs
-
3. Submit at the Commercial office
Deliver the application to Planning and Commercial, Nyumba ya Soko, during office hours. You will receive an application reference number.
-
4. Inspection and allocation
Allocation depends on vacant spaces, commodity category, and tenancy rules. There is no allocation in exchange for unofficial extra payments.
-
5. Pay official fees
Daily or monthly fees are paid at the KMC cashier or through TAUSI / GePG when a control number is issued.
-
6. Occupy the space
After payment, the office confirms the tenancy and hands over the stall or shop. Transfer or subletting requires Corporation approval.
